Sarah Goodenough joins Baines Jewitt as a Trainee Accountant - 27/09/2007 We are delighted to welcome Sarah Goodenough as a Trainee with the Firm. Sarah graduated from Durham University this summer with a Business Finance Degree and commenced her training with us on 28 August 2007. She works alongside Trevor Cook and the rest of his team. Sarah lives locally and her interests include horse riding, swimming, reading and listening to music. Jewitts Centenary - 30/08/2007 Baines Jewitt Chartered Accountants was established in April 2004 when Baines Goldston and Jewitts merged to create one of the largest accounting firms in the Tees Valley. Behind the two names is a long and proud history. Baines was formed in 1923 but the roots of Jewitts go back to 1907 making 2007 the centenary year of the Firm in its original format. Go Karting - Professionals Networking Event - 09/08/2007 Baines Jewitt recently entered two teams of three drivers in the ‘Barclays Endurance Karting Challenge’ organised by Ross Hume, Area Director of Barclays Tees Valley Medium Business Team. The event was held at the Teesside Karting Centre in South Bank and involved twenty teams from the local business community. A portion of the entrance fee was kept aside as a donation to a local charity nominated by Barclays. Client Feedback Survey - 09/08/2007 Over the past twelve months or so the Firm has been running a client survey to assess the quality of service we provide. A simple and hopefully not too onerous questionnaire was sent to in excess of 300 clients inviting comments on areas such as Staff Performance, Progress Updates, Telephones, Correspondence, Fees and General Overall Service. The response rate, in excess of 35%, was higher than anticipated. Team Ferguson - British Motorcycle Championships - 05/07/2007 The Firm recently provided a small sponsorship for ‘Team Ferguson’. This is the team behind Jamie Ferguson, son of our client John Ferguson of Ferguson Roofing. Jamie, pictured at a recent event, has been riding motorcycles since he was a young boy and having made his mark in the 2006 North East Club Formula 125 class, is competing this season in the higher profile, more demanding British 125GP Championships. Looking back at the Budget - 06/06/2007 This year's Budget was unusual in two respects. It was the last to be presented by Gordon Brown and it gave a picture of our tax system not just for the current year but set out some principles, which will not be fully in place until 2009/10. Howard Murray's Retirement Party - 30/05/2007 The Partners and spouses held a retirement party for Howard and Margaret Murray at The Tontine recently. A very enjoyable time was had by all as evidenced by the picture showing Howard in relaxed mode. The BIG Start Up! - 30/05/2007 No not a new business venture or an additional client service but to an actual drum roll when the ignition key on 'the tractor' was turned. The engine successfully roared into life and the machine elegantly rolled into action in a field on the outskirts of Worsall on a recent sunny Saturday afternoon. |
