About us
Baines Jewitt is one of the largest firms of chartered accountants, business advisers and tax experts in Teesside.
We help people, businesses and other organisations within Darlington, Hartlepool, Redcar, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough, as well as the surrounding North East area. We also have clients throughout the UK.
Our history
Our company in its current form took shape in 2004, following the merger of two firms with long and proud histories: Baines Goldston whose story began in 1923 and Jewitts which can be traced back to 1907. As a result, our origins, heritage and excellent reputation have been built over more than a hundred years.
Today Baines Jewitt employs over 30 professionals and is led by five directors. Our business was incorporated in July 2017 to become Baines Jewitt Limited.
What we do
Many people think accountants only deal with tax-related issues, but we do so much more. We make sure people, businesses and organisations are tax compliant; have financial integrity and the money in place to do what is important to them. Our expertise also includes budgeting; business planning; debt control; financial efficiency and performance; investments; pensions; profitability; savings goals, wealth management and providing support services such as digital accounting software, PAYE and payroll.
Who we do it for
As well as offering financial advice to individuals, families and charities, we’ve helped hundreds of people get their businesses off the ground and provided ongoing support to grow their organisations into some of Teesside’s most successful firms. In many instances we’ve worked with several generations of the same family. All this makes us quite distinctive in our field. Our clients include:
- Academies and education specialists
- Business start-ups
- Charities and non-profit organisations
- Large corporate companies
- Private individuals and families
- Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs)
- Sole traders
- Specialist sectors, such as agriculture, charities, education, healthcare, property and construction
