Apprentice Tax Assistant
School or college leaver and want to kick start your career, earn while you learn and gain a professional taxation qualification?
Baines Jewitt Chartered Accountants is looking to recruit an Apprentice Tax Assistant to join our Stockton-on-Tees office. This role involves lots of variety and responsibility, so there will be plenty to keep you interested.
Working as part of our busy tax team, you will play a key role in supporting Baines Jewitt’s accountancy and finance functions. Your apprenticeship will combine on-the-job learning and in-house mentoring with a structured technical training programme.
As an Apprentice Tax Assistant, no two days will look the same but some of the tasks you might be involved with include:
- Working as part of the tax team to help with the preparation of personal tax returns.
- Liaising with clients to gather and organise tax information and documents.
- Keeping an eye on deadlines and helping with timely filing submissions.
- Carrying out general administrative duties within the tax department.
- Learning about relevant ethical, professional and legal standards and accounting practices.
- Supporting the tax team in researching changes to tax laws and new regulations and how these could affect our clients.
Throughout your apprenticeship you will be supported towards gaining a professional Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) Level 4 qualification. This will involve hands-on learning in the workplace; regular day release at specialist accountancy and financial training provider Kaplan Financial in Newcastle; practical assessment and exams.
There will also be an opportunity to progress to further qualifications to achieve your future career goals, such as becoming a Chartered Tax Adviser.
