Alison is a very experienced member of staff, who works mainly with Jed Lester but also helps with other partners' case loads from time to time and has built up very strong working relationships with clients over the years.
Chris Shaw
Chris joined the firm straight from university in 1991, and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1995.
He works with a large range of clients including charities, and those in the motor, farming and service industries, and also deals with audit work on various government and European Union grant funding claims.
He is married, and enjoys hockey and walking in the Lake District.
Karen Taylor
Karen joined the firm in 1988 and qualified as a chartered acoountant in 1991. She assists the partners by dealing with a wide range of clients, providing audit, taxation, accounting and other advisory services.
Karen is married, lives in Hartlepool and is a keen fan of her home town football team.
Suzanne Barker
Suzanne originally joined the firm in 1986 and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991. She deals with a wide range of clients, from small sole traders to larger companies. Her main areas of work are in audit and accounts preparation but she is also involved with management accounts and VAT returns. Suzanne has a specialist knowledge of National Insurance issues and advises across the firm on this subject.
Suzanne is married with two children and enjoys swimming, cycling and children's parties! Whilst not a football fan, she has no alternative but to follow the fortunes of Middlesbrough FC at home and at work!
Joanne Cotton
Joanne joined the firm in June 2002 as a qualified AAT and qualified with ACCA as a Certified Accountant in August 2004.
Joanne works for various partners and her work covers a broad range of industries, mainly dealing with small and medium sized companies.
Joanne enjoys rock climbing and scrambling in the Lake District and also running with local running groups.
Hilary Bevan
Hilary joined the firm in 1998 and qualified with us as an Accounting Technician and a Chartered Certified Accountant. In 2009 Hilary qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor and was appointed as the firm’s VAT specialist.
Hilary is part of Trevor Cook’s team and supports a wide portfolio of clients from farmers to manufacturing companies. Her work includes Annual Accounts, Management Accounts and VAT Returns as well as advising across the firm on all matters concerning VAT.
Hilary also acts as secretary for the North of England Chapter of the VAT Practitioners Group, a group which meets monthly to discuss various technical matters relating to VAT.
Garry Horsman
Garry joined the firm in 2002 and qualified with us as an Accounting Technician before qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2010.
Garry works as a member of Anne Cowley’s team. His work includes Audit, Annual Accounts preparation and dealing with Company Secretarial matters.
Garry lives locally in Thornaby and is a very keen sportsman with football, squash and golf his main hobbies. Garry has also been a regular member of the Baines Jewitt cricket team since 2002.
