Baines Jewitt has welcomed a new recruit to its organisation.
Henri Butler from Hutton Rudby has joined our Stockton-based firm, which is one of the largest firms of independent chartered accountants, business advisers and tax experts in the Tees Valley.
Having recently graduated from Durham University, Henri is just starting out on his professional career journey. His move into accountancy is a major departure from his degree in Biological Sciences.
“Despite my science-based degree, a career in accountancy was always in the back of my mind. It was during my time at university that I decided to fully set my sights on it, hence the change in direction.
“My role at Baines Jewitt is my first full-time accountancy-related job, however I did gain some workplace experience as a hospitality bar supervisor at the Riverside Stadium after I graduated,” explains Henri.
Despite his change in career path, Henri is putting his analytical skills and attention to detail to good use as a trainee chartered accountant with Baines Jewitt.
As part of his three year professional training programme, Henri is working towards becoming an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).
As well as earning a wage and gaining new skills in the workplace, Henri receives support from specialist training company Kaplan Financial.
When he’s not at work, Henri enjoys playing tennis and all sports-related activity, including football, running, padel and going to the gym.
Talking of Henri’s appointment, Don Adams, director, Baines Jewitt, said:
“Our firm is well over 100 years old and has an excellent reputation for quality, both in the work it produces and the high calibre people it employs. Yet despite the longevity of our firm, we know we have to plan for the future if we want our organisation to continue to grow. We’re delighted to welcome Henri, who brings an excellent range of skills to Baines Jewitt.
“We took the decision just over four years ago to keep the firm as an independent organisation and it is our desire that it will remain so for many years to come. Being independent means we can take a bespoke approach to each client’s needs and give them the personal attention they deserve.”
