Commitment to training adds up

A hard-working pair of our accountancy trainees are celebrating exam success after passing the next step in their professional training programme.

Victoria Mason of Stockton and Lewis Poppleton of Norton combine full-time job roles with study towards accountancy qualifications.

Victoria joined Baines Jewitt as a trainee chartered accountant in 2022. With an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification already under her belt, Victoria set her sights on becoming a chartered accountant.  As part of her training programme – which has included qualifications in Audit & Assurance and Financial Accounting & Reporting – Victoria’s recent exam success means she is well on the way to becoming a fully-fledged chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).

Trainee accounting technician Lewis joined Baines Jewitt in 2021 following a successful work experience placement at our firm.  As well as his busy day job helping with accounts preparation and VAT returns, Lewis recently completed the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 4 qualification.  He has also enrolled on a Level 7 Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) apprenticeship.

“Victoria and Lewis are among a growing number of Baines Jewitt employees who benefit from fully funded professional training,” explains Don Adams, director.

“We strongly believe in recruiting and nurturing local talent. Investing in the continuing development of our employees provides a cost effective solution to recruiting and upskilling staff to build a strong team.

“In return, employees commit to studying outside of work but are rewarded with a competitive salary and supportive training culture, which includes paid study leave and good routes for career progression.”
