Baines Jewitt has welcomed a new senior manager, strengthening its support for the firm’s growing portfolio of clients.
Our Stockton-based firm has appointed Darren Ellis from Fairfield who has joined the company’s accountancy team.
A Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA), Darren started his accountancy career over twenty years ago as a 17-year-old trainee. Gaining a vast amount of experience via several North East accountancy practices, Darren has worked his way up the career ladder to his new senior role at Baines Jewitt.
As well as accounting expertise, Darren has a vast amount of experience in advising owner-managed businesses. He has also overseen the training and development of junior team members within the firms he has worked, to help them achieve chartered accountancy status.
Talking of his new role at Baines Jewitt and the skills he brings, Darren said: “The world of tax and accountancy is forever changing which keeps things interesting. Luckily, I enjoy developing new skills, keeping on top of legislation, getting to grips with policy changes and providing a tailored approach to the specific business needs of clients.
“Because I’ve worked my way up from a junior level, I also have a good overview of chartered accountancy practices as a whole. This helps whether managing client portfolios, prioritising workloads, finalising accounts, helping clients remain compliant or developing staff at all levels, so they can fulfil their potential.”
As part of Baines Jewitt’s professional accounting team, Darren will support a range of organisations, including sole traders, start-up companies, family firms, small and medium-sized enterprises and large corporate businesses with several hundred employees.

When he’s not working Darren enjoys spending time with his wife, teenage children and family dog. His busy home life includes long dog walks, managing his son’s football team – Stockton Town FC U16’s – and taking his daughter to gymnastic lessons and competitions.
