Baines Jewitt has bolstered its team with the appointment of tax specialist Jenny Grist from Stockton.
With professional Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualifications under her belt, plus a specialist focus on trusts, estates and inheritance tax, Jenny brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Having made the move to Baines Jewitt from another regional accountancy firm, Jenny found out about her potential career move via a business magazine.
“I was reading an article about Baines Jewitt’s new office premises, plus its ambitions to take the company forward, invest in its infrastructure and recruit more staff. The article really grabbed my attention. I was especially interested to discover that despite its long heritage, Baines Jewitt is an independent, forward-thinking organisation, which puts its clients at the heart of its business,” explains Jenny.
“I made a speculative enquiry about potential job vacancies. I was delighted to be invited for an interview and subsequently offered a job as a tax manager.”
On welcoming Jenny to the firm, Baines Jewitt director Don Adams said: “Jenny has hit the ground running and is already a valuable member of the tax team. As well as helping with the busy demands of our tax department on behalf of business clients, Jenny will be working with our financial services team, providing personal tax advice to individuals.
“On top of this she will help to support Baines Jewitt’s plans to work more closely with local firms of solicitors to create a greater synergy between legal and accountancy work, so we can offer a ‘one-stop-shop’ for our clients.”
When not at work Jenny enjoys spending time with her cat Smartie and seeking out ‘great coffee’ at local cafes. She is also a member of two lawn bowling clubs and travels throughout the North East and wider UK to represent the county at regional and national level.
