One of Baines Jewitt’s longest standing employees is leaving the firm on 31 March 2026 to take early retirement.
Gail Harbron, who has nearly 38 years’ continuous service, first started with Baines Jewitt – then Baines, Goldston and Jackson – in 1988.
When Gail started at Baines Jewitt, it was her very first full-time job. The supportive training and development culture which includes time off for study and exams, plus the company’s family friendly policy, was an added bonus for Gail, who is a fellow member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
Talking about her time at Baines Jewitt, Gail said: “When I started at Baines Jewitt, little did I know that I would still be here nearly 40 years later! I’ve worked under two bosses, in three different buildings and with so many amazing people.
“I’m really grateful for the life Baines Jewitt has given me. It allowed me to bring up my children in the way I wanted and still keep my career on track. It has given me lifelong friends, not only with other members of staff, but with our clients too.”
Talking of Gail’s departure, director Anne Cowley said: “Gail has always been a well-respected member of the Baines Jewitt team, by colleagues and clients alike. We will really miss Gail but wish her the very best for the exciting new chapter in her life.”

On retirement, Gail is looking forward to pursing her love of distance running, as well as spending more time with family, including her first grandchild.
