Baines Jewitt, one of Teesside’s largest chartered accountancy practices, has noticed a surge in demand for its outsourced payroll services as a result of the Covid 19- pandemic.
The Stockton-based firm puts the sudden hike in demand down to additional day-to-day challenges faced by businesses in the current climate.
“The pandemic has resulted in a very tough time for many organisations of all sizes and sectors,” explains Jed Lester, director, Baines Jewitt.
“Whether it’s the need to free up valuable time, save money, improve efficiencies or ensure compliance, more and more companies have been coming to us for help.”
Baines Jewitt’s outsourced payroll support includes: keeping on top of ever-changing legislation; dealing with workplace pension auto enrolment; performing minimum wage checks; processing payslips; calculating sickness, over-time, maternity and redundancy payments; taking care of statutory paperwork; completing year end returns; liaising with HMRC and setting up or upgrading automated systems.
“We recognise there are many reasons why businesses might need our support right now and we can provide as much or as little help as they need, whether on a short or long-term basis. Even those with wellmanaged and efficient payroll systems already in place, have asked for our help due to a lack of payroll capacity whilst essential staff members are off sick, self-isolating or looking after family members,” adds Jed.
“What’s more, as well as ensuring a consistent approach, there are often other added benefits of outsourcing payroll activities too, such as reduced operating costs , greater compliance and someone to take an objective view of current procedures.”
