{"id":4092,"date":"2021-04-30T14:49:05","date_gmt":"2021-04-30T14:49:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bainesjewitt.co.uk\/blog\/?p=4092"},"modified":"2021-04-30T14:49:07","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T14:49:07","slug":"new-guide-to-help-tackle-the-toxic-issue-of-late-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bainesjewitt.co.uk\/blog\/new-guide-to-help-tackle-the-toxic-issue-of-late-payments\/","title":{"rendered":"New guide to \u201chelp tackle the toxic issue of late payments\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Major business bodies have this week launched a new supply chain guide in an attempt to address the worsening late payment crisis.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and British Services Association (BSA) said the guide will \u201chighlight challenges faced by smaller firms\u201d and \u201cidentify routes to collaborative working\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Recent research revealed that small businesses were owed more than \u00a323 billion in outstanding invoices in 2020, while late payments were directly attributed to the collapse of some 50,000 small businesses every year.<\/p>\n<p>The BSA said the new guide, found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsa-org.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/BSA-best-practice-document-FINAL-WEB-1.pdf\">here<\/a>, will help the smallest and largest organisations come together to benefit from a \u201chealthy and more diverse supply chain\u201d through \u201cpartnership working\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It also highlights the significance of the Prompt Payment Code, aligning objectives, social values, and building relationships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone needs to contribute in full if the UK is to recover quickly, sustainably and equitably,\u201d said Mark Fox, Chief Executive of the BSA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means the public sector, and private sector and VCSE organisations large and small, together in harness, working towards the same common goals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Statement sets out some examples of what has been achieved. But we are all on a journey, and we recognise that much more needs to be done.
