{"id":2062,"date":"2017-10-04T11:30:00","date_gmt":"2017-10-04T11:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bainesjewitt.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2062"},"modified":"2017-10-04T11:30:00","modified_gmt":"2017-10-04T11:30:00","slug":"one-four-businesses-unaware-apprenticeship-levy-benefits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bainesjewitt.co.uk\/blog\/one-four-businesses-unaware-apprenticeship-levy-benefits\/","title":{"rendered":"One in four businesses unaware of apprenticeship levy benefits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Around a quarter of apprenticeship levy-paying businesses still do not know how the new tax works, according to research.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The British Chambers of Commerce, which published the report in conjunction with Middlesex University, said one in four firms had no understanding of how it worked or how their company would respond.<\/p>\n<p>The levy is designed to fund the Government\u2019s pledge to create three million apprenticeships by 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Employers with a wage bill of \u00a33 million or more each year are required to pay the levy \u2013 charged at 0.5 per cent of their annual pay bill.<\/p>\n<p>All companies have an apprenticeship levy allowance of \u00a315,000 each year, meaning you only pay the levy on any amount over \u00a33 million.<\/p>\n<p>Companies which contribute towards the fund can reclaim Government vouchers for apprenticeships.
