Baines Jewitt congratulates golden girl Aimee

Baines Jewitt Director Trevor Cook caught up with Teesside’s golden girl Aimee Willmott when she returned to her native North East recently.

Following on from her Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games success - where the swimmer was crowned Women’s 400m Individual Medley Champion – Aimee received a hero’s welcome from family, friends and supporters at the Neptune Centre, Middlesbrough where she used to train.

As one of Aimee’s corporate sponsors and business advisers for the last two years, Baines Jewitt was thrilled to share her gold medal moment.

Trevor Cook explains: “Aimee is a talented swimmer and we are delighted to sponsor her.  We closely follow her progress and know that she has had an exceptionally tough 12 months.”

Aimee had to overcome several challenges over the last year, including knee surgery, injury and a change of training base.  All of this made her preparation for the Commonwealth Games less than ideal. Her success is remarkable.

It just goes to show that with true grit, determination and hard work, coupled with the right support, you can overcome obstacles and make dreams come true.

In a close fought race to be crowned 400m Individual Medley Commonwealth Champion, Aimee beat Scottish favourite Hannah Miley into second place.

“It’s lovely that Aimee has taken the time to share her success with those who have supported her. Her face on winning said it all and I don’t think she’s stopped smiling yet. Everyone at Baines Jewitt is incredibly proud of Aimee and everything she has achieved,” adds Trevor.
