Accountants Celebrate Colleagues’ Long Service - 13/01/2009

Two colleagues at Stockton on Tees accountants Baines Jewitt have clocked up a grand total of 40 years’ service at the firm.

Accounting technician Gail Harbron and Karen Taylor, one of the firm’s managers, each recently celebrated 20 years with Baines Jewitt and were presented with gifts to mark the milestone.

Gail caught the accounting bug when she spent a day in the Baines Jewitt office while still at school. Joining the firm after leaving sixth form, she went on to qualify as a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and handles a varied portfolio of work, including farming businesses and payroll clients.

Karen joined Baines Jewitt after gaining an accountancy degree, subsequently qualifying with the firm as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA).

Much of her work involves preparing accounts for a range of companies. She says: “I enjoy the variety of the work and meeting different clients and I have made good friends here.”

Gail also highlights the flexible hours available to Baines Jewitt staff as a welcome benefit that allows her to more easily combine work with caring for her young family.
