Accountant Has Perfect Recipe For Charity Boost - 21/08/08

Baines Jewitt partner Jed Lester has helped to give a local hospice a welcome cash boost by setting aside his calculator and tax tables to cook up a storm at a fundraising evening.

Jed, who attends cookery courses at the Arc Arts Centre, Stockton, joined six other students and Arc’s highly respected head chef Matty Brown to produce a meal for 75 invited guests, laying on a restaurant-style menu featuring several different choices for starters, main courses and desserts.

As a thank you to his immediate team at Baines Jewitt, Jed invited them to the evening as his guests.

Proceeds from the event totalled £2,000 which Matty has now presented to Butterwick Hospice Care, which provides hospice facilities for children and adults in Stockton and for adults at its Bishop Auckland hospice.

The event, which took place on 13 July, was the latest in a series of similar evenings in aid of the charity organised through Arc’s cookery classes.

Jed said: “It was a very enjoyable evening and it is particularly satisfying to have been able to hand over a substantial sum to a very worthwhile cause.”
